2 Corinthians 9:12-14 (New International Version)

12This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.

Youth Ministry

FBC Youth—Bring people together while touching lives with the love of Christ. At First Baptist our goal is to provide students with opportunities to encounter God in a real and personal way.  We seek to follow the model of the early church in Acts 2:42-47 in which believers learned, fellowshipped, prayed, and worshipped together. The early church model is an excellent guide in providing a balanced ministry full of opportunities to encounter and glow in Christ. The greatest goal of youth ministry at First Baptist is to take the brief time we have with students and utilize every opportunity to help them become true followers of Christ.

Sunday School—9:45-10:45 AM

Youth meet in the Youth Hall.  Our youth experience teaching from Scripture on retreats and weekly in youth group.

Wednesday Night Youth—6:15-7:30 PM

This year our youth will be involved with serving our community. One Wednesday night each month will be designated to serve organizations including: Habitat for Humanity & Fifth Street Missions.  We also designate one Wednesday each month for the service of our congregation.  Our goal is to provide for those who are in need with a servant's heart!

Mission Trips

FBC youth have opportunities that are truly unique to our church. Everyone should experience the joy of serving Jesus on mission!  We have served HIM in Venezuela, the mountains of North Carolina, and Summer 2009--in New York City!

Our plan for SUMMER 2010 is to spend a week in July in NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana.  We are really excited about this trip, and will have detailed information later this week!

If you want to teach a student what it means to follow the path of Jesus, put them on a dusty road and let Jesus show them as they become His hands and feet on the mission field.  A world of experience, learning, and growth occurs on missions at home and abroad for FBC youth.

Join Us

All that is needed to join FBC Youth is to meet with us on Sunday, Wednesday, or for special events.  Let us know your interest and we will put you on the mailing list for the latest news on all the upcoming events.

Retreats

Some of the memorable moments for FBC youth occur when we are on retreat.

In January 2010, we will spend the 16th thru the 18th in Boone attending the Student Life Worship Event.  There will also be plenty of time for winter sports at SkiBeech.

In the spring we hit the beach for a time like no other. These retreats provide youth with the opportunity to band as a group as well as to really focus on the topic at hand-whether it be spiritual disciplines or dating do’s and don’ts. The best way to know how effective and wonderful retreats are is to ask our youth.
