Debra and her husband Edward, moved to Statesville in June of 2007. They came here via Prosperity, SC, where Debra completed her education at Newberry College in Newberry, SC. In May of 2007, she graduated Summa Cum Laude and received a B.A. degree in Biblical Studies, with a minor in Fine Art.
Debra has been a Christian since 1974 and has always felt called to teach the Scriptures. She spent eight years working with a conference, travel, and tours ministry in Black Mountain, NC. During those years, she helped facilitate pilgrimages to Israel eight times, as well as a tour to England, Europe, and a three-week research trip to the Far East (China, Thailand, and Myanmar.) She has served in churches as secretary to elders, as administrative assistant to pastors, and as Bible study leader and Sunday school teacher.
She and her husband Edward share a great love for studying and teaching the Judeo-Christian Heritage of the Christian faith. Debra has hosted and taught three biblical feasts at FBC in the past two years: Pesach (Passover) with a Seder meal, Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles), and Purim (the story of Esther.)
Here at First Baptist, Debra is currently serving as the Contributions Secretary. She also teaches Sunday School and serves on the Special Events Committee, the Caring Committee, and the Women's Ministries Committee.
Debra and Edward have four children and seven grandchildren.
