Jeff Porter loves being a pastor and has helped many people build a personal relationship with God for over twenty years.  

He and his wife Susan enjoy the life of ministry and want to help others discover Jesus for themselves. Jeff says, "Jesus changes people's hearts, and when a heart changes, everything changes."

The two enjoy the North Carolina mountains, especially Banner Elk and Boone. When asked about the High Country, Susan said, "The mountains give us a place to be quiet with God."

Reading helps Jeff relax, as does dinner with Susan. He also spends time biking along the highways of northern Iredell County as frequently as possible.

Susan and Jeff have one son, Bradsher. He and his wife Jennifer live in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

Jeff and Susan believe that everyone has a spiritual gift, a special strength given by God when anyone trusts in Jesus as Lord and Savior. They see the church as a family in which everyone works together to accomplish what no one can do alone. Therefore, helping others discover their unique spiritual gift from God is one of their goals in ministry.

The Porters enjoy teaching the Bible and helping others discover ways to apply its truth to the everyday needs anyone might face. Jeff says, "Following the Bible was a turning point in our lives and we want others to experience the joy we felt when we started applying what we read to our lives.

Jeff is a straightforward communicator who uniquely connects God's unchanging truth with a diverse culture through a variety of contemporary or traditional teaching methods. He has developed a systematic approach to Christian discipleship that enables anyone to grow in Christ one step at a time.

First Connections, seminar #1 in a series of four, has been written by Jeff for anyone who wants to know more about what we believe about Jesus, why we belong to his family, and how to become more like him every day. Classes meet one time, the first Monday of every month, and can help anyone who wants to know more about following Christ.
