Tuition, withdrawal, health...
Preschool Policies
* Please note all policies are outlined in full detail in our Parent Handbook. Below are policies from that handbook.
Tuition:
Tuition is due in full the 15th of each month, August through April for class days September through May. Checks should be made payable to First Baptist Church (FBC) and given to the director or placed in the lockbox at her office. Tuition is based on nine equal payments, and there will be NO prorating of fees. If there is financial difficulty, please talk with the director as other arrangements may be made. You may be charged a fee for any check returned to us by the bank.
Withdrawl:
A 30-day notice is required if your child must be withdrawn. Tuition is due through the end of the 30-day notification period and any tuition already paid is NOT refundable.
Calendar:
Yearly and monthly calendar information is available in our parents’ handbook and via our newsletter. Some of our special occasions may be posted on the general church website calendar.
Snow Day Policy:
School cancellations due to inclement weather will follow the decision of the Iredell-Statesville Schools. If county schools are on a one-hour delay, we will start at our usual time. If ISS schools are on a two-hour delay, we will not meet that day. We do NOT make up snow days. Please pay attention to local radio/tv stations for school closing announcements. Please do not call the First Baptist Church offices.
Attendance:
Developing a regular pattern of attendance helps children feel connected to classmates and teachers, and it instills habits that will continue throughout life. We encourage regular attendance.
Health:
Please do not send a child to school if there is a fever, diarrhea, nausea, pink eye, or a “green/runny” nose. A child should be kept at home 24 hours after the symptoms are gone. Please notify the director if your child has been exposed to a contagious disease.
If your child is on any medication, please tell his/her teacher. Do not ask us to give medicine to your child as we are unable to do so.
Immunizations – an up-to-date immunization form must be filed in the preschool office by September 15th. Children whose forms are not turned in will not be allowed to attend school.
Allergies- please list any and all allergies on your child’s health form and also provide your child’s teacher with a list of any foods that your child can/cannot have.
Arrival:
Our day starts at 9:00 am so the entrance area will be opened at 8:50 am. Please make sure you arrive on time. When children arrive late they will often miss the class discussion of the days events and late arrivals are a disruption to other children in the class.
Dismissal:
Mother’s Morning Out and 2 Year Old Classes – are dismissed at 11:30 and should be picked up in the classroom.
3 and 4 Year Old Classes – A banner will be hung to denote which age group is being loaded. Please do not come to the portico until your child’s class banner is hung. Three year olds are dismissed at 11:45 at the drive-through portico. Four year olds are dismissed at 12:00 at the drive-through portico.
*If anyone other than the usual person is picking up your child, please notify the teacher or director, giving a name, a description of the person and of the person’s vehicle. This is for your child’s safety. We will not send a child with a person that has not been authorized by the parent.
Discipline:
We are teaching children to be in control of their own actions. All classroom rules are posted in each classroom and are verbally explained to children.
Classroom rules are:
1. We use indoor voices
2. We use listening ears
3. We use walking feet
4. We keep our arms and hands to ourselves
5. We take turns and share
Consequences of not following the rules are:
1. Verbal reminder of what the rules are
2. Redirection to another activity
3. A short removal from the group (no more than 1 minute per year of age)
4. Short-term loss of privilege(s)
If a problem continues, the child may be removed to the director’s office. If necessary, the director may contact a parent.
We will NEVER spank a child or belittle a child in seeking to discipline a child.
Snacks:
We provide apple juice and a light snack mid-morning. This is not to replace breakfast, so please ensure your child has a good breakfast before attending school.
Field Trips:
We will have special outings during the year. Children must be transported and accompanied by a parent or adult designee on each trip. It is an important occasion for your child when you go with us on a trip, so please make alternate arrangements for other children in your family.
Parent Involvement:
We encourage parents to be involved. If you wish to visit and/or observe, please set up a time with the director or the teacher. If you have a special talent or interest, please let us know as we enjoy having special guests!
