The purpose the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church is to guide and disciple children as they become followers of Jesus Christ. The Great Commandment (Mark 12:28-34) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) guide all that we are and all that we do.
Our ministry strives to help each child:
† begin to associate God and Jesus with feelings of wonder, love and joy.
† know that the Bible is a special book through hearing stories and participating in learning activities that reinforce Bible truths
† think of church as a special place where he or she is loved and where children learn to love one another.
† develop a sense of trust and of security.
† develop a positive feeling of self-worth.
† begin to show love, respect, and acceptance of others.
† grow in independence.
† develop spiritual maturity through the application of Bible truths when facing challenging situations.
To enrich the growth of each child spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially.
To lay foundations for conversion and discipleship by providing spiritual guidance and mentoring by adult teachers.
To encourcage the active participation of parents in the spiritual growth of their children.
To help parents provide Christian homes for their families.
To provide a safe, clean, and joyful Christian environment for children when they are participating in our ministry.
Children participate in several aspects of worship. They serve acolytes, read scripture, pray, collect the offering and lead in worship by singing in the children’s choir.
